I deeply understand sentimental attachment, especially due to life transitions, and the huge emotions this brings up – I specialise in helping people deal with their feelings along with the ‘stuff’ and help you to see the difference between your feelings and your ‘stuff’. This is a very gentle process carried out in a very calm and nurturing way, and if ever you get overwhelmed you can stop at any point – in fact that is the ideal tea break time!
In no way am I a ‘minimalist’, so don’t worry, I won’t be asking you to throw half your stuff out! Nothing will ever be removed without your permission. That’s just rude! 🙂

Cosy English Country Cottage Homes are more my personal style, very romantic and slightly French shabby chic, although I can do anything you require, right down to a minimalist house if that’s your preference, but usually I find minimalist people do not have a clutter issue or call a Professional Organiser! After all, generally in order to have clutter, one needs to have a lot of stuff! 😉

How to Declutter your Home easily? Its not always easy to know where or how to start when it comes to decluttering your home it’s very common to feel overwhelmed and frustrated. However if you approach it in a methodical way, you will soon find you are decluttering without even realising, in just a few minutes a day!
It is also very important to know your ‘organisational style’ – some people like everything hidden out of sight, whilst visual types will completely forget there even is a stack of bills to pay if they can’t see them! You also need to consider your other family members and their organisational style too, as if you like every thing put out of sight, but they are visual, they are not going to be able to help you maintain the systems you put in place.
This is where a professional organiser comes in useful, as they can help you work out what style you have (which most people are completely unaware of) and not only help you make massive progress towards decluttering, but more importantly help you set up systems to keep it all tidy once it’s sorted! Now wouldn’t that be lovely! ;D
if you are overwhelmed by the sheer amount of clutter involved, I would definitely consider giving yourself the present of a ‘instant solution’ by hiring someone like me (like me? Hey –hire me!) to give yourself a quick ‘boost’ and make life a LOT easier for yourself!
If you just want to get started for now, I’d advise you play some rocking music, grab a rubbish bag, a laundry basket (for items that need to go in another room!) and set a timer for 5 minutes and just GO! Chuck out the obvious rubbish, dump relocate items in the laundry basket and tidy as you go! Make a charity like too if you need too, and at the end of the 5 minutes go again, until you’ve done say 20 minutes, then take ten minutes out for a tea break! Rinse and repeat!
Even if you can only stand 5 minutes a day to start with, at the end of the month that’s nearly 3 hours decluttering without noticing! :).
See eve how simple this can be? The trick is to enjoy the decluttering process, and not best yourself up about it!

There is an old saying, a cluttered home = a cluttered mind. I’ve heard the same said about a cluttered desk, to which Einstein apparently said “well what does an empty desk say about the mind then?” which made me laugh and feel a lot better! (I am a visual person so like to have things where I can see them)
Interior Design has always been a passion of mine, ever since I can remember. I automatically scan a room as soon as I walk into it, I immediately pick up the atmosphere and what the room needs in order to feel more comforting and calm, whether that be in someone’s home or a restaurant or pub. My own Home people call ‘The Sanctuary’ as everyone relaxes so much they lose all concept of time!

The famous Sidetracked Home Executives Book (also called
‘She’s’) is a long time classic in decluttering and organising
I literally laughed out loud when I read this book! Who knew that you couldn’t microwave y-fronts (to dry them, of course?!) or the ever ingenious idea of stashing all the dirty plates in the cooker, and if that is too full, the shower tray (don’t forget to pull the curtain across, of course!) Perfect if the mother in law is coming to visit..! 🙂
Seriously though, the journey of how they got from that somewhat challenged start (being very creative people, which I can both identify with and admire intensely!) to their present day organised homes and lives is not only fascinating (better than any novel you will read!) but also very touching and inspiring. I don’t know about you, but I can honestly say I have never tried to dry anyone’s clothes in the microwave (although I am half tempted to try for fun, apparently you just end up with the waistband and a bit of shrivelled fabric, could be interesting..!) but this book inspired me to start my own journey from what may politely be termed ‘not exactly born organised’ to becoming a Professional Organiser as I enjoyed the process so much, and especially the psychology behind it.
I can’t recommend this book enough, and even if you read it and give it to someone else as a present, I guarantee you will laugh out loud!
